MEET MAARTEN.
The M. in M.Advice.
I’m a communication strategist, digital manager and hands-on problem solver. With a reporter’s instinct for spotting a good story and a manager’s eye for making things happen. I’ve spent much of my career connecting things that belong together but don’t always work together: people and projects, stories and audiences, content and technology.
It started at TV Brussel (now BRUZZ), where I learned to find the story, ask better questions and deliver on deadline. After two years of project management at Jeugd en Stad (JES), I joined Cultureel Jongeren Paspoort (EURO<26), where I moved from product management over magazine editorship to communications and media manager, bringing culture and young audiences closer together. Along the way, I coordinated communications across the continent with the European Youth Card Association (EYCA). At HUMO, I spent nearly a decade leading digital and editorial teams, developing platforms and products, and exploring new business opportunities in a media world that was transitioning from analog to digital at breakneck speed.
In 2017, I started M.Advice to put that experience to work independently. Today, I help organisations find direction, lead demanding projects, strengthen teams and make better use of digital, content and storytelling.
I enjoy the thinking. But I like getting things done just as much. Good planning helps. Especially when reality goes off-script.

“He works till it works.”

Different worlds. Fresh perspectives.
I’ve worked across agencies, media, corporate communications, culture, higher education, public institutions and social-impact initiatives. From locally rooted projects to high-profile environments with nationwide reach and European visibility.
I’m also a guest lecturer at Erasmushogeschool Brussel and involved in Brussels’ social economy as a board member at Atelier Groot Eiland and EAT.
The circumstances and the objectives change. Good questions, sound decisions and working well with people remain surprisingly useful.
Independent by choice. Collaborative by nature.
When you work with M.Advice, you work directly with me.I can help shape a plan, lead a project, coach your team or get involved in the practical work. And when the job calls for additional specialist skills, I can tap into a diverse network of independent people we can trust.
No unnecessary layers. Just the right skills and clear responsibility for the work.
I’ll help you make the most of your people, resources and opportunities, without making things more complicated than they need to be. And where I can, I make sure your team can carry the work forward.
